The injection process of begins by collecting a small amount of the patient’s blood, typically drawn from their arm. The blood is then placed into a machine that will separate the platelets from the other components. Once the platelets are collected, the doctor will inject them into the target area. Oftentimes, the doctor will utilize a form of imaging technology to ensure the location of the injection is accurate.
After the procedure, it is normal for mild bruising, swelling, and redness to occur in the area of the injection site. These localized symptoms should go away within days of the procedure. It is very important that patients follow all post-care instructions to ensure their treatment is successful.
