When is this Procedure Necessary?

Preparing for Your Procedure
The patient will be under general anesthesia to ensure they are comfortable throughout. During the procedure, the surgeon will remove the adenoid glands through the patient’s mouth. A material will be placed to manage any excess bleeding. During nasal turbinate reduction, the surgeon will use a general or local anesthetic. They will access the nasal turbinates through the nose and will use one of several methods to shrink the turbinates. After the procedure, the patient will be removed from the anesthesia.
The recovery process typically takes around two weeks before patients can return to physical activity. During this time, patients must relax, eat soft foods, and stay away from large amounts of people, as getting a cold or sickness could cause infection. If necessary, the doctor may provide pain medication to ensure the patient is comfortable throughout the recovery period.
