What To Expect

Patients will be under general anesthesia to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. The surgeon will make an incision over the region of the superficial tumor and will use sutures to extract the tissue. If the tumor is cancerous, the surgeon will ensure to remove all tissue surrounding the tumor as well. When the goal of the procedure has been achieved, the surgeon will close the incision and the patient will be removed from the anesthesia.

In the days following the procedure, patients may experience discomfort in the neck region, however, it is manageable through prescribed pain medications. If the patient receives a biopsy with this procedure, it typically takes 1-2 weeks to get results.
